Lulworth Cove
I went with my Dad down to Lulworth Cove in Dorset a couple of weekends ago. My reasoning was to see a nice part of the coastline, and maybe find some fossils! I only found one decent fossil (at Kimmeridge Bay) but it was a great weekend.
In the evening, I sat on this promontory and took this Mpeg to capture the scene at Sunset.
The only fossils you can find there are at nearby Kimmeridge Bay - but you can't chip away at the cliff - you can only look at rocks that have fallen off the cliff naturally. In any case the material is very fragile - any fossils you find are likely to break. Still, there's something awe inspiring about splitting open a rock and looking at something that was alive 165 million years ago, and hasn't been seen by anyone except you until now.
